Hani Naji’s Sunrise color palette series explores the interplay of light, color, and the inner self, drawing from both Expressionism and Impressionism to bridge the external and internal worlds. His figurative abstract expressionist approach reflects how light influences the inner landscape, inviting viewers to experience the resonance of colors as they emerge from the play of light. This dynamic approach offers a new lens through which to understand abstract art, where the reflection of light is not only external but deeply personal, resonating within the viewer’s own emotional landscape.
In this series, Hani Naji employs inventive color theory and color interactions to evoke the merging of hues that arrive with the first light of day. The interplay between yellows and blues, opposites on the color wheel, creates both harmony and contrast, drawing the viewer's eye into a dynamic flow of energy. These colors represent more than just the external world—they evoke the emotions and feelings stirred by the sunrise. The yellows capture the warmth and hope of the dawn, while the blues suggest the introspective, cooler shades of the inner self. The resulting contrast creates a sense of vibrancy and movement, mirroring the transformation that takes place within both the world and the soul.
After the Sunrise, part of a collection of 12 works, continues Naji’s exploration of the dynamic nature of light and color.
